 The Timber Mill

Tucked away in the Hampshire
countryside, The Timber Mill offers
conservation forestry, sawmilling,
bespoke joinery and timber sales

After 17 years as a construction and bench joiner John Jones, the Timber Mill managing director, decided to get to grips with timber production and so began a 3 year HND in Forestry at Sparsholt College.  His practical year was spent with the National Trust at Mottisfont, Hampshire.  Since completing his HND, and building on the good links made with the National Trust during his practical year, John has gone onto establish the Timber Mill at the Mottisfont site.

Drawing upon both his joinery and forestry experience, he has developed the Timber Mill to provide the full range of timber services, from conservation forestry contracting through to bespoke joinery. All timber is English and predominantly from the South East, with about 25% coming from the Mottisfont Estate.  You can buy ready cut timbers off the shelf, or you can have timbers milled to your particular specifications, with order-to-delivery usually within about 10 days.
The joinery workshop focusses on one-off bespoke work. Current projects include a bird-hide measuring 3m x 5m with sweet chestnut base and solid oak top and a 7m boardwalk, for the National Trust at Basingstoke.

John has embraced computer technology with
www.thetimbermill.com showing current stock and prices for timber, plus comprehensive information about their other services, including prices. The Timber Mill has also developed software to provide virtually instant quotes.  Look out for The Timber Mill at Weald WoodFair.
