Framing Oak
To promote the use of local hardwood timbers in picture framing, Weald WoodNet have co-ordinated a unique collaboration between artist Julia Desch, furniture designer-maker Tamsin Yeld and picture framer David Graham. Tamsin selected and processed the character oak from Julia’s farm, supplying David Graham with frame profiles.

Julia painted ‘The Flame of Joy’ after David had been completed the frame, taking her inspiration from a hornbeam at Hambledon. The final work will be on display at the Wood Season stand at Weald WoodFair, the Fruits of the Wood exhibition (see Wood Season programme) and the Woodland Enterprise Centre Open Day in October. Julia Desch and David Graham are pictured right with the finished framed painting.  For more information about any of the participants in this project please contact the editor.
